“Staff Nurses are appointed at Pay Band 2 (Rs. 9300-34800) with a Grade Pay of 4600, which corresponds to Level 7 in the Seventh Pay Commission matrix.
At Level 7, basic salary is Rs. 44,900 per month for staff nurses. In addition, they are entitled to allowances such as House Rent Allowance (HRA), Travel Allowance (TA), Nursing Allowance of Rs. 7,200 per month, etc. Therefore, the starting salary with the total of Dearness Allowance (DA) and allowances will be approximately Rs. 84,000 per month in the year 2022.
The above-mentioned salary is for GNM qualification. An additional allowance is provided for higher qualifications such as B.Sc. Nursing. Therefore, the gross salary of a Nursing Officer at Level 7 will be around Rs. 87,000 in metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, etc.
